Transforming the Future, One Child at a Time
This is a 1 –
1.25 hour program designed to be given to larger groups such
as moms’ clubs or church groups. It gives a basic overview
of Humane Education as it applies to parents and caretakers
of young children, including a brief discussion of the issues,
an examination of the five elements of humane parenting, and
some simple but effective ways to incorporate these ideas
into your lifestyle starting NOW. We also give some simple
activities that can be done at home with young children, as
well as a reading list for anyone interested in learning more
about any of the topics discussed. A significant portion of
the program is devoted to discussion, so that parents and
caretakers can talk about any specific concerns and share
their own strategies for incorporating humane parenting into
their lives.
Introduction
to Humane Parenting
This is a one-day
workshop designed for a relatively small group of parents
and caretakers. Highly interactive and experiential, this
workshop will help attendees examine in some detail the issues
of human rights, consumerism, environmentalism and animal
protection and the way they are all tied intimately together.
We will discuss what exactly it means to raise a “humane”
child, and we will look closely at how each of the five elements
of humane parenting helps us to accomplish that. After practicing
some activities that parents and caretakers can use at home
with their children, we will spend the afternoon looking at
our own lifestyles, thinking about what we already do well
and sharing those strengths with the other participants, identifying
areas where we would like to improve, and developing personal
strategies for achieving our goals. Lastly, we will discuss
some of the obstacles we face as we try to incorporate these
ideas into our own lives and some of the approaches that we
can use to overcome them.

| "Kelly's lecture
was very inspiring. Before hearing her talk I ws very
overwhelmed with the idea of humane parenting and thought
it would be too big of a change for our family. It made
me realize how easy it is to make changes in our daily
lives." - Whitney, mother of one |

| "Kelly's candid
approach made this presentation so enjoyable! She offered
real-life ideas and examples of how parents can transform
the way they think about the world, and more importantly,
how we can help our children to appreciate the wonder
and beauty here on Earth. I highly recommend this talk
to all parents, educators, and caregivers."
